Kevin Blackwell hailed his battling Bury side after they came from behind to beat Crewe 3-2 in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.
The Shakers were on the back foot after a fifth-minute strike from Chuks Aneke but responded with goals from Shaun Beeley, Shaun Harrad and Richard Hinds to progress from the first round.
"All in all, I thought it was a very, very good performance," Blackwell said.
"After the first 10 minutes they sorted themselves out and went from strength to strength.
"Crewe came out with pace and we got caught a little bit at sixes and sevens, but we tweaked it from the sidelines and got back into the game.
"(Ashley) Grimes and (Shaun) Harrad started getting hold of the ball and that made the difference. We could then get out from the back and support them from the midfield with courage.
"After that there was no difference in the teams whatsoever. As the game went on they never really threatened us and we finished off with style."
