Preston North End have announced that midfielder Andy Procter has left the League One club by mutual consent.

The former Accrington skipper, who started his career with North End, returned to Deepdale in January 2012 and was handed the captain's armband by then-boss Graham Westley. However, first-team opportunities were hard to come by for the 30-year-old last term as he made just six league starts amid a total of 23 appearances. A club statement read: "Procter leaves the club with everyone's best wishes, having been a model professional during his 18-month stay with the Lilywhites."
