Kevin Blackwell claims he was misled about the seriousness of Bury's financial situation following the 1-0 home defeat to Tranmere.

Blackwell, installed as permanent replacement for Richie Barker in September, saw Rovers skipper Andy Robinson grab the second-half winner that lifted Tranmere three points clear at the top of the table and left his own side in the bottom three.

Blackwell said: "We knew how young our team was and they just had a lot more experience. The knowledge in the team isn't there, but it's what we've got.

"The problem is what's gone on before here and, as they say, you reap what you sow.

"This is a real test because there are little options or just no options whatsoever and the players are so young.

"The injury list is massive and a lot of senior players are absent. You've got to say enough's enough.

"We need players and we've needed players all season. I've squeezed as much out of these kids as I can.

"We're in no position financially to be able to get experienced players because they cost money and we haven't got any money.

"Not being told about the financial situation didn't help, but now that I know what it is, I can start to do something about it."
