David Flitcroft: Set for Bury job
League One side Bury are set to make an approach to appoint David Flitcroft as their new manager, Sky Sports understands.
The highly-rated 38-year-old coach is currently assistant to Keith Hill at Championship club Barnsley.
He was with Hill at Rochdale too, and followed him to Oakwell having previously turned down managerial offers.
Rochdale offered him the chance to return to Spotland last season, but he rejected that opportunity.
But now he is ready to accept the chance to take charge at Gigg Lane, with Bury looking for a new boss following Richie Barker's decision to join Crawley.
Flitcroft is already a popular figure at Bury, having spent two years with them during his playing career, making more than 100 appearances for the Shakers.
