Hill happy to secure his first signing of the summer

Barnsley have completed the capture of Kelvin Etuhu on a free transfer after the forward decided against signing a new contract at Portsmouth. The former Manchester City youngster spent the second half of last season with Pompey and the club were hoping Etuhu would stay following relegation to League One. However, Etuhu has become Keith Hill's first signing of the summer as the Barnsley manager rebuilds his squad ahead of the 2012/13 Championship campaign. The 24-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal at Oakwell after Hill finally succeeded in his pursuit of a player he wanted to sign last season. Hill told the club's official website: "We're glad we've managed to secure the signing of Kelvin. "We're excited by the prospect of working with him. We're really pleased and he represents good value for money and I'm just glad he chose us. "It's exciting because he can play in a number of positions - anywhere across the front line. He's got pace and ability and he will excite the adoring public."
