Barker: We can avoid the drop

Bury boss Richie Barker believes his side will avoid relegation despite seeing them crash to a 3-0 defeat at in-form Brentford in League One.

Two goals from Sam Saunders and a Shaleum Logan clincher helped the Bees to their best run of form for almost six years, while the Shakers rarely threatened at Griffin Park on Saturday. Shaun Harrad came closest with the game at 3-0, but he squandered two gilt-edged chances to add some respectability to the scoreline. Barker said: "Until the goal it looked like a 0-0 game, but Saunders is a quality player and they can change games. "We were evenly matched with them until the goal. After that we talked about staying in the game, which we did." Barker added: "We kept battling and had a couple of decent chances to get back in it right at the end, but by then the game had slipped away from us. "But it doesn't matter where we are now. All that matters is where we are after 46 games and with three home games to come we have a very good chance of staying up."
