Bury boss Richie Barker insists his side have to start competing from the first whistle after their 3-2 defeat at Exeter on Saturday.
The Grecians eased into a 2-0 lead inside nine minutes of the League One clash at St James Park through Troy Archibald-Henville and a Daniel Nardiello penalty after Efe Sodje's foul on Jake Taylor. After David Amoo pulled a goal back, Richard Logan restored Exeter's two-goal advantage before Ashley Eastham netted an injury-time consolation for Bury. "The second half was excellent but you can't keep coming out and saying the second half is excellent when you are behind. We paid for the start," Barker said. "We were the best side for 75 minutes but if you are 2-0 down after eight minutes and should have been 4-0 down after 15 minutes you can't recover from that. "We had the most shots, most corners, most possession and eight minutes cost us the game. Slack defending was a lot of it. Is it down to concentration? I am not sure. "It was the same as Chesterfield and the same as Scunthorpe. We have got a great record in the second half, a great record of being the best team in the second half. But we will keep costing ourselves points if we keep not turning up in the first eight minutes."
