Manager Aidy Boothroyd insists he must keep Chris Hussey at Coventry despite having a long list of suitors.
The 22-year-old has made just two starts and seven substitute appearances for the Sky Blues since joining for AFC Wimbledon in October 2009, initially on loan.
But despite his lack of league experience, Boothroyd confirmed there is plenty of interest in taking the full-back on loan.
"I've had more coaches and managers phone me up and ask about Chris Hussey than any other player because he has obviously done very well at non-league level," he told the
Coventry Telegraph.
"He is fighting fit again. He's had a couple of weeks of training under his belt and he needed a game so we will have had a practise match between ourselves.
Undoubted quality
"He's got undoubted quality but not the experience that we would all want, but, having said that, we have gone with a lot of inexperience all season so it doesn't make a lot of difference."
Boothroyd may have considered a loan switch but given his personnel problems recently, he wants to keep Hussey as part of his squad.
The Sky Blues boss feels Hussey has the versatility to cover at the back and challenge for a more advanced role.
"He should really go out on loan and play matches but needs must at the moment and I think he has earned the right to be in and around the squad," said Boothroyd.
Competition
"I like having him around and we will see where we go with him. He certainly pushes Stephen O'Halloran and it is nice to have that little bit of competition to keep him on his toes.
"He can push Carl Baker and Gary McSheffrey as well because he can play in two positions.
"If you think about pre-season he was one of our best players as a left-back and a left midfield player."
