Boothroyd raids former club for striker

Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd has secured the services of striker Clive Platt from former club Colchester. Boothroyd, who left Colchester for the Ricoh Arena in May, has snapped up the 6ft 4in forward for a nominal fee. The 32-year-old joins on a one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months and becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer. Boothroyd said: "Clive is one of the most underrated players I've ever worked with, a very unselfish team player who can bind everything together. "Everyone who plays with him scores goals and I think he can add something to the squad. "Every squad needs the option of having a good target man and he is very experienced. I hope this will be an Indian summer for his career."
