Owls defender Richard Hinds suffered a fracture to his left leg in the 4-1 defeat to Wolves.

Defender was due to have operation on Sunday

Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Hinds is facing a lengthy lay-off after fracturing his left leg in the 4-1 defeat against Wolves on Saturday. Hinds was due to have an operation on Sunday after he fell awkwardly in the Owl's penalty area and had to be stretchered off late in the game. He was taken to hospital for X-rays after the match and an examination of his lower leg revealed a displaced fracture of the fibula head. Sheffield Wednesday physio Mark Palmer told the club's official website: "The operation Richard Hinds is having is a standard procedure but we will know more about the extent of the injury after talking to the surgeon and having further scans." Palmer said Hinds had suffered a 'serious injury' and further MRI scans would reveal if there had been significant damage to cartilage and ligaments in the defender's ankle joint.
