Shakers wrap up Jake deal

Bury have completed a permanent deal for on-loan striker Jake Speight this week.

Bury have completed a permanent deal for on-loan striker Jake Speight this week.

The former Sheffield United hit-man has agreed to an 18-month deal with The Shakers and will seal his permanent move from Nationwide Conference side Scarborough on January 1.

The 20-year-old initially arrived at Gigg Lane on loan in late November, as Bury boss Chris Casper boosted his attack before the Football League's loan deadline.

Scarborough will receive a nominal fee for the youngster, who has made four appearances for his new club since his loan switch last month.

The news comes as defender Colin Woodthorpe extended his contract with Bury until the end of the season.

The former Aberdeen and Stockport County man initially penned a six-month deal with the League Two side back in the summer, but the 36-year-old has been able to extend that deal for the remainder of the campaign.
