Bury have been boosted by the news that an injury to Dave Challinor is not as serious as first feared.

The Shakers had looked set to be without the defender for some time after he was stretchered off in the FA Cup win over Vauxhall.

However, early fears that Challinor had done serious damage to his knee proved ill-founded.

After a scan on the joint, Challinor has been told that he has only done minor damage, and will be back in action in three weeks.

"It looked bad because there was no-one near him," explained manager Graham Barrow.

"A few weeks is good news because he is a very important player for us."
