Mansfield Town defender Jake Buxton has told the club's supporters he never planned on leaving The Stags.
The 21-year-old recently penned a two-and-a-half year deal and is delighted to have committed his future to the Field Mill outfit.
Buxton informed Stags boss Peter Shirtliff he was keen to stay and was happy to put pen-to-paper once the club returned with their favourable offer.
"I recently signed a new deal which I am really happy about as I've enjoyed my time at the club," Buxton told the club's official website.
"I told Peter Shirtliff I wanted to stay right from the start so it's nice he thinks enough of me to offer me such a good contract.
"It seems that all the gaffers that come here have taken a shine to me. I don't know why, but it proves I must be doing something right."
