Oxford United winger Chris Hackett has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The 21-year-old has agreed terms and has handed a major boost to manager Graham Rix - who has just lost another of his wide men in Dean Whitehead.

"Graham's been a massive part in me staying," said Hackett. "He's been brilliant and is a proven coach. I know I've still got a lot to learn and believe I can develop a lot in the next two years with him.

"Whatever formation the manager chooses I feel Oxford is the best place for me to develop.

"Being an Oxford boy, an Oxford United fan and with Graham Rix the manager, this was too good an offer to turn down."

Meanwhile, Oxford have been linked with a move for Mansfield Town defender David Artell.
