Stephen Vaughan has confirmed Chester's interest in midfielder Curtis Woodhouse.
The former Birmingham man is currently playing for Conference side Rushden & Diamonds on non-contract terms, having tried his hand at professional boxing.
And Vaughan, who was made aware of Woodhouse's availability through his boxing contacts, is now set to speak to Rushden.
"We are interested and we'll be approaching Rushden," said Vaughan.
"I spoke to his boxing agent on Friday night and he told me he's available so hopefully we can get a deal done."
Woodhouse left Grimsby at the end of last season in order to pursue a boxing career but returned to football late last year.
