Southend have confirmed that five players have been placed on the transfer list with immediate effect.
Conor Clifford, Issac Layne, Ellis Brown, Kane Farrell and Josh Banton are all available for a free transfer or loan as boss Phil Brown revamps his squad. "We have had various meetings looking at our squad and what is required to obtain promotion this season," Brown told the club's official website. "We feel the need to bring in some players to help us achieve that goal in terms of goal threat and also additional experience. "I decided it was best to let them try and find a club now to help them progress their careers by going somewhere and playing, rather than wait until the summer, when significant numbers of players become free agents." Brown also revealed that the club have sounded out possible interest in youngsters Jason Williams and Jack Bridge regarding a loan deal. "I think both Jason and Jack will have a future in the first team at Southend," he added. "I want him and Jack to go back out, hopefully to the next level, and carry on showing what they have on loan already this season".
