Robson hails Davids influence

Barnet's Mark Robson praised the influence of his fellow head coach Edgar Davids after the Bees' 4-0 win over Northampton on Friday night.

The Dutchman's playing debut inspired the Bees to an emphatic 4-0 win over the Cobblers for their first league success of the season. After a quiet first half Krystian Pearce set Barnet on their way with a header, shortly followed by Andy Yiadom before superb late strikes from John Oster and Anthony Edgar wrapped up the emphatic victory. All of this as Champions League winner Davids played the full 90 minutes in his first competitive game since featuring in Crystal Palace's 3-0 defeat to Swansea on October 30 2010. "Edgar coming in has made a difference to us," Robson said. "He has given us an extra edge and I am pleased for him. You could see it out there on the pitch, he is a talker, a communicator, he knows the game inside out and added to the younger players around him and that influence is in his playing style too. "He shone through and helped the young players but credit to them as well they have been good. There has been the odd game where we have not played well but this has been coming. "He surprised me as Edgar is fitter than I thought he was and he will be a big influence on the pitch for us. He helps the players around him and is something we haven't had as he is a leader out there."
