Togwell: Defence costing us

Scunthorpe captain Sam Togwell has admitted sloppy defending is to blame for the club's disappointing start to the season.

The Iron have won just two games this campaign and were beaten 3-2 at home to then bottom-club Leyton Orient on Saturday, and the 26-year-old midfielder knows they must improve. "I know it's easy to say this but if you keep a clean sheet you win the game," Togwell told the club's official website. "Too many times this season we have given away silly goals. "On Saturday we made it too easy for them [Leyton Orient] to get through and score. They had three chances and scored three goals. "Saturday was one of those days when too many of us weren't at the races. But, as a group, we can't afford to have too many games like that. "After the poor start we have had to the season it is important that we win as many as we can, and quickly."
