Brentford are confident striker Charlie MacDonald will commit his future to the club after being offered a new contract.
The forward, who is out of contract in the summer, has said he is keen to remain with the Bees and manager Andy Scott is eager to extend his stay.
Scott discussed the prospect of a new deal with the 10-goal hitman prior to the Griffin Park board making a formal offer.
He told the
Hounslow Chronicle: "I told Charlie, even before I went to the board, that I want him to stay.
"But we now have a contract to offer him, and I feel it's one which will persuade Charlie to stay with us."

Scott is keen to further bolster his striking options having seen John Akinde return to Bristol City following his loan spell.
The Brentford boss is now planning to dip back into the loan market to bring in further competition for MacDonald, Carl Cort and Ben Strevens.
He added: "John didn't integrate into the side as well as we hoped. The weather didn't help, in terms of the heavy pitches not suiting his game, and his lack of game-time due to the postponements.
"But it leaves the door open for us to get somebody else in if the right person becomes available.
"We do need a new striker now, but it's got to be the right one and within our financial world - we can't afford to go out and pay millions for Rickie Lambert or Lee Barnard.
"Myles Weston (who is joint top scorer with MacDonald after scoring 10 from the wing) can also play up there, but we have a lot of games coming up and don't want to stretch ourselves."
