Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is hoping to extend Marcel Seip's loan and has called on Plymouth Argyle to stop being 'childish'.
Seip's month-long deal at Bloomfield Road expires after Saturday's game at Doncaster Rovers and Holloway wants to keep the defender for a further two months.
The Dutchman has created a stir during his time with the Seasiders after scoring in a 2-0 win over his parent club on his debut for Holloway's side.
His goal was given a thumbs-up by his wife and mother-in-law, who are the daughter and wife of Pilgrims deputy chairman Paul Stapleton.
That prompted a sarcastic reaction from Plymouth captain Carl Fletcher when he scored against Ipswich Town last weekend, but Holloway is unsure why there is such a fuss over the Seip situation.
Drama
"We are working on keeping Marcel here after his loan spell runs out tomorrow, but I am staying out of it and have passed that one over to the chairman because he is good at cutting through the drama," Holloway told the
Blackpool Gazette.
"But some strange things are going on in the press. Surely you can celebrate if your son-in-law scores? You can put your thumb up without being evil.
"I don't understand what is going on down there and I would suggest that Mr Fletcher, rather than sticking his thumbs up because he scored a goal, should score a few more goals if he is captain.
"The fact is that I wouldn't have signed Marcel if he couldn't have played against Plymouth because we had an international break. There was no point him being here for a month and only playing two games.
"So I said we wouldn't take him if he couldn't play. It was a deal-breaker and they had to decide how much they wanted him out.
"So who is to blame? I'd suggest to them that they start sorting themselves out and stop making excuses.
"At the end of the day I wish them all the best, but stop being so childish. All I have done is borrowed a player who wasn't being picked at their football club."
