Striker rejoins old club for promotion push

Darlington have enlisted the services of old boy Tommy Wright to help try and fire them back into the Football League. The 25-year-old left the Northern Echo Arena in the summer of 2008 in a £100,000 switch to Aberdeen after helping the Quakers to the League Two play-offs. But his time with the Scottish Premier League club was disrupted by injury and a loss of form before he switched back south in January to Grimsby, signing an 18-month deal. But the striker scored just once in 13 starts for the Mariners and was unable to help the Blundell Park outfit avoid the drop with the Quakers to the Blue Square Premier. He has now returned to Darlington as new boss Simon Davey plots a promotion push.
