Stevland Angus is training with Grimsby hoping to impress manager Alan Buckley.

The 26-year-old defender left Torquay at the end of last season after The Gulls lost their Football League status.

Angus is still on the lookout for his next club and has linked up with Grimsby for a trial.

The former West Ham trainee, who caught Buckley's eye last term, will aim to earn a contract with The Mariners.

"Stev is training with us but it's no more than that at the minute," Buckley (pictured) told the club's official website.

"I am pleased to have the chance to have a look at him."

Meanwhile, Grimsby midfielder Gary Harkins has been given permission to train with Partick Thistle.

Harkins will train with the Scottish Division One side for the next two weeks having failed to hold down a first-team place last season.

Buckley added: "He may get something offered but if not, he will be back with us on 23rd July."
