Ellen White struck twice as Notts County came from behind to secure a second successive win, beating Sunderland 4-2.

The away side took the lead inside five minutes when County failed to clear and striker Beth Mead chipped goalkeeper Carly Telford.

But County hit back and went ahead with two goals in two minutes - White's first coming after Dani Buet’s 25-yard free-kick deflected in off the England striker before coolly slotting in her second from close range.

The hosts extended their lead when Jess Clarke’s 18-yard shot escaped the grasp of Sunderland 'keeper Rachael Laws, and they added a fourth before the break when a pin-point cross from Sophie Walton found the head of Rachel Williams.

Sunderland pulled a goal back on 73 minutes when Victoria Greenwell's free-kick saw Williams head past her own 'keeper - but a mere consolation it remained.

Elsewhere, Birmingham City and Bristol Academy are both still without a league win this season and remain the Women's Super League 1's bottom two sides, after playing out a 0-0 draw at Damson Park.

Despite having chance after chance, the Blues could not force a winner against the Vixens, who finally claimed their first point the day after appointing Willie Kirk as their new manager.
