Bristol City and Rochdale lead the nominations for September's Sky Bet League One Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Ashton Gate boss Steve Cotterill and City midfielder Korey Smith are both in the running for the respective prizes on offer, while Dale manager Keith Hill is joined in the nominees list by his striker Matt Done.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports' Football League expert Don Goodman, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, League Managers' Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

The Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month nominees for September are...

Mark Cooper (Swindon Town)
As impressive as the Robins' haul of 10 points from 12 was the free-flowing football which recorded a stirring 5-2 win over Sheffield United and a 3-0 victory at Barnsley. Cooper has his players believing in style with substance.

Image: Keith Hill

Steve Cotterill (Bristol City)
It was another stellar month in charge at Ashton Gate for Cotterill. Four wins and a draw saw his fluent City team move five points clear, scoring three goals on four occasions and two once as they maintained their attacking surge.

Keith Hill (Rochdale)
Hill has harnessed the momentum gained from last season's promotion campaign beautifully. Four wins in five games included handsome 4-0 victories against Crawley Town and Walsall as Dale surged into the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off positions.

Image: Lee Johnson

Lee Johnson (Oldham Athletic)
Two wins and three draws in September lifted Oldham into the top half of the table and justified Johnson’s faith in his side. Superbly organised, three clean sheets included a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Fleetwood Town.

The Sky Bet League One Player of the Month nominees for September are...

Image: Roy Carroll

Roy Carroll (Notts County)

A great month for the Northern Ireland goalkeeper, who conceded just two goals in five games. The 37-year-old organised the County defence well, but really starred by pulling off fine saves away to high-flying Peterborough United and Chesterfield.

Matt Done (Rochdale)
Four goals and even more assists for the striker, who has been converted from a left-sided midfielder. No goals in 68 games prior to this season, the 26-year-old was inspirational with tackling, link-up play and spectacular finishes against Crawley Town and Leyton Orient.

Image: Eoin Doyle

Eoin Doyle (Chesterfield)
Doyle achieved the rare feat of scoring hat-tricks in successive games - against Scunthorpe United and Preston North End. Hugely popular with fans and team-mates for his appetite to chase lost causes, the 26-year-old is now adding goals with seven in four games.

Korey Smith (Bristol City)
Smith is the midfield rock upon which City's attacking play is built. The 23-year-old protects the back three by reading the play superbly and timing his interventions, and allows others to press forward freely. He provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United.

The winners will be announced on Friday.
