Notts County have confirmed that boss Shaun Derry has signed a new deal at the Magpies until 2016.

Assistant Greg Abbott has also penned a new contract at Meadow Lane until the end of the 2015/16 season. The pair helped save the Magpies from relegation from Sky Bet League One last season as they survived on the final day of the campaign. Derry, who started his playing career at the club, replaced Chris Kiwomya in November 2013 with County bottom of the table but won 12 games - including six of the last nine - to stay up. The Magpies are currently 10th in the table and host Gillingham on Saturday. Chief executive Jim Rodwell told the club's official site: "We have been delighted with the hard work that both Shaun and Greg have done so far since arriving last year. "To achieve a turnaround as part of the Great Escape was remarkable, and it's now their target to build on that this season. We have of course started well and there have been some fantastic signs for the long-term future here at Notts. "Off the field the pair have created a great rapport with supporters and worked tirelessly to tie down a deal with Arnold Town as our new training base. "The board are of course delighted to tie the pair down for the long-term and would like to wish them all the best during their tenure at Meadow Lane."
