Bradford have completed the signing of Alan Sheehan from League One rivals Notts County.

Sheehan, who follows Gary Liddle in making the switch from Meadow Lane to Valley Parade this month, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Bantams after turning down the offer of a new contract at Notts. "Just want to let everyone know I'll be leaving Notts county. Gutted to leave a club I love but I think it's time for a new challenge," the 27-year-old defender said via his Twitter account. "Want to say a huge thank you to the fans who have been great to me the past three years and was so proud to captain the team to safety last year. "It's a good club with [manager, Shaun] Derry and [assistant, Greg] Abbott hopefully given a chance everything will go well because the club needs stability more than anything. "On a seperate note I am very happy to have signed for Bradford City. A very big club with good ambition. Looking forward to getting started." Former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Sheehan began his career at Leicester before spells with Mansfield, Leeds, Crewe, Oldham and Swindon. He joined Notts in 2011. The Magpies tried to re-sign Sheehan and Liddle but both players opted to join the Bantams, where their contracts begin on July 1.
