Sky Sports understands a number of clubs from League One are chasing Southend striker Gavin Tomlin.
Tomlin is out of contract at Roots Hall in the summer and the Shrimpers' financial situation could prompt them to part ways with the frontman.
The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals in all competitions for the League Two club this season, netting a double in the 3-0 win at his old club Dagenham and Redbridge on Boxing Day.
Swindon, Notts County and Stevenage are all believed to be interested in the striker, who signed at Southend from Dagenham on a one-year deal in the summer.
