Experienced stopper opts for a new challenge abroad

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has signed for OFI FC in the Greek Super League. The 33-year-old has been searching for a club since leaving Danish outfit Odense in February and has put pen to paper on a two-year deal. Carroll, who won a Premier League winners' medal and the FA Cup during his four seasons at Old Trafford between 2001 and 2005, will bring plenty of experience to his new club having also played for Wigan, West Ham and Derby during a long career which started at Hull City back in 1996. Carroll received three offers from Football League clubs in England and enjoyed a spell on trial at Preston but he instead opted for a move to Greece. The goalkeeper's agent Simon Dent said: "We had three offers from Football League clubs but he's decided to sign for OFI FC. "It's a club with a great history and pushing for Europa League qualification this season."
