Martin Allen is adamant Notts County deserved to beat city rivals Nottingham Forest in their Carling Cup penalty shoot-out.
Allen's men were on the verge of progressing in extra-time but deep into injury-time Wes Morgan levelled the tie at 3-3 sending it penalties.
County then missed three penalties to hand former England manager Steve McLaren his first victory as Forest boss.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham, Allen said: "I am proud. It was a fantastic occasion, obviously, to come across the river to take on Forest, Steve McLaren and his squad.
"They're in a bit of a transitional stage at the moment, getting some players in, so I thought it was a good time to come here and play them.
"I think you can see from the game that we've had a lot more chances to have won it. I think we deserved to win."
