Trialists Danijel Subotic and Marcus Haber have caught the eye of St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes.

Subotic and Haber impress McInnes

Trialists Danijel Subotic and Marcus Haber have caught the eye of St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes. Both men have been training with the Scottish Premier League outfit of late and were handed run-outs in their friendly date with University College Dublin on Sunday. Former Switzerland U19 international Subotic made the most of his opportunity, with a superb strike for the Saints' second goal helping them to a 4-1 win. With McInnes having shipped out his misfiring front line from last season, there are attacking vacancies to fill at McDiarmid Park. Canadian winger Haber, who is on the books at West Brom, and 22-year-old ex-Portsmouth forward Subotic are considered to be strong contenders to fill those voids and they could be offered permanent deals by the Saints.

Impressive

McInnes told the Daily Record: "It was great to reward the fans who came over - the first two goals were magnificent. "We carried a threat throughout and dominated the game. The reaction to losing a goal was positive and bodes well for the season. "There were some impressive performances. Marcus and Danijel both did well. "We played Marcus in a wide area where we have lacked pace and Danijel took his goal superbly, some of his link-up play was excellent."
