Hayden Mullins is confident that Portsmouth can maintain their Premier League status this season.
A 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday night, their fifth in six matches, has seen them slump to within two points of the relegation zone.
However, Tony Adams' side did put up a spirited display against top four-chasing Villa, especially after being reduced to 10-men following Nadir Belhadj's dismissal.
Mullins made his Pompey debut in the midweek clash and despite finding himself on the losing side, insists there were plenty of positives to be taken from the game.
"The performance was there, everything was there apart from the ball going into the back of the net," he told
The News.
"If we keep on playing like that every week the three points will come.
Unlucky
"I definitely think we've got more than enough to be okay from relegation.
"Even going down to 10-men, we were the team forcing it and forcing it and forcing it.
"You've got to remember, we played a good side who have got one of the best away records in the division.
"But we pinned them back and looked the team most likely to win.
"We were unlucky, and if we can play like that we'll be okay, we really will."
