Notts County are set to sign former Boston defender Lee Canoville, subject to a medical.
The 26-year-old joined Boston in summer 2005 but was released by the York Street club in June.
Canoville has been lined up by Magpies boss Steve Thompson (pictured) as a replacement for Mike Edwards, who suffered a horrific double leg fracture and dislocated ankle during a pre-season friendly last week.
The defender, who has also had spells at Arsenal, Northampton and Torquay, spent three months on loan at Shrewsbury in the latter half of last season before parting company with the Pilgrims.
