Notts County have re-signed out-of-contract Grimsby Town midfielder Andy Parkinson, on a permanent deal.
The 27-year-old winger was integral to the Mariners' promotion efforts last season, but has left the club in search of a team that can take him into League One.
The former Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield United midfielder spent two years at Blundell Park, but has returned to County on a Bosman free transfer.
He spent two loan spells at Meadow Lane in 2004, and is delighted to have returned.
"Grimsby wanted me to stay but I'd already had the offer from Notts County," he told the County website.
"I played on the left for the majority of last season, but it was a rigid 4-4-2 and I had defensive duties, which slightly took away my attacking capabilities.
"I spoke to the manager here and he wants me to attack and use my strengths, and hopefully over the course of the season score and create plenty of goals."
"I want to be part of a squad challenging for promotion and the manager seems to think that's possible."
