Notts County have signed goalkeeper Shaun Marshall on non-contract terms.

The 26-year-old was searching for a new club after leaving Cambridge during the summer.

Marshall has been training with County for the past three weeks and has impressed Gudjon Thordarson enough to earn a deal.

Thordarson needs a new keeper as Saul Deeney is still looking to leave Meadow Lane despite turning down the chance to join Bristol City on loan.

Deeney wants a permanent move and Thordarson has lined up Marshall as a replacement once he moves on.

Marshall had been on trial at Bristol Rovers, but a move did not materialise and he could now face The Pirates on Saturday.

Rovers travel to face Notts County and Marshall is in The Magpies' squad to face them at the weekend, should he receive the necessary clearance.

Kevin Pilkington is the only other keeper at the club and Thordarson is keen to add more competition for a place in between the posts.
