Notts County defender Chris Palmer has revealed his desire to quit the club after falling out of the first-team picture.

The 21-year-old, who can also operate in midfield, joined The Magpies last summer after being released by Derby County.

Although he missed the early part of the season with an ankle ligament problem, he went on to establish himself as a regular under Gary Mills with some promising displays.

However, Palmer has been left warming the substitutes' bench under Mills' successor Ian Richardson over the past couple of months and has now grown frustrated with his lot.

The youngster insists he is ready to quit the club in search of regular first-team football even if it means dropping down a level to the Conference to achieve his aim.

"I'm frustrated with how things have worked out and think it might be time to take a step back to go forward," Palmer told skysports.com.
