Mellon eyes massive win

Micky Mellon denied Shrewsbury's clash with title rivals Wycombe is season defining but admitted a "massive" three points are at stake.

The challengers face off at Adams Park on Saturday, with Town aiming to regain top spot in League Two. They were knocked off the summit last weekend and are two points behind leaders Burton and just a point ahead of third-placed Wycombe. But, despite the timing of the game, Mellon insisted it will not determine their season. "It's a big three points, I don't think it's a season-definer but it's a big three points at stake," he said. "We are really looking forward to it, it's a cracking game to be involved in. "If you're a professional coach, manager or player you want to be playing in these games, you want to be playing in games that matter. "Is it season defining? No. A massive three points? Yes." Shrewsbury have won one of their last four games and conceded a last-minute goal to draw 1-1 with Cambridge last time out. Mellon said: "It's about how quickly we move on, which is something we've preached from our first day in the door. At this point of the season you have to accept the luck, whether it's good or bad." The Chairboys beat the drop on goal difference last season but have transformed into title contenders this term. Mellon added: "Wycombe are up there on merit, they have got some really good results and work unbelievable hard. "There's no sneaking under the radar for them any more, everyone knows they are challenging to get out of the league."
