Ainsworth pleased by comeback

Gareth Ainsworth was relieved with Wycombe's fightback after they came from a goal down to beat Barnet 3-1 in the FA Cup.

Barnet, who had Sam Togwell and Andy Yiadom sent off, took the lead after three minutes through John Akinde, but were pegged back before the break by Paul Hayes' penalty. The red card for Togwell on the stroke of half-time turned the game as Wycombe scored twice after the break through Aaron Pierre and Sam Wood. Barnet finished with nine men as Yiadom saw red for a dangerous lunge on Josh Scowen two minutes from time. He said: "The boys really stood up to the challenge, the conditions were awful with the rain and the wind. "But because we played an ugly game in the first half we were able to play our game in the second half and I'm really pleased with the performance. "We're a real tight group and I'm very proud of them. "It's not an easy place to come, just ask the Conference sides, so we're very pleased and glad that we're in the hat for the next round. "The sending off obviously helped us, I thought the second was quite soft but that's part and parcel of the game. "Sometimes 10 men can dig deep, but I asked the boys to dig deeper and they did that." Barnet manager Martin Allen refused to criticise the officials, though. Allen said: "We started like a train, extremely well and we battled and played with full energy right until the very end. "It's fair to say I've given all of them a pat on the back in the dressing room, they put in a great effort. "I think referees take too much criticism personally, too much scrutiny and intensity on their performance and I think the game should be about the players. "Credit to Wycombe they came up against a very good team, did very well to keep us out and in the second half they got their goals. "We gave them a real fright, that first 45 minutes is how we play week in and week out, we've got good players and a good strong squad."
