Cooper: Worst display ever

Hartlepool boss Neale Cooper branded his side's 5-0 mauling at Wycombe as the worst display he had ever seen.

Paul Hayes had a debut to remember with a goal in each half for the Chairboys while Stuart Beavon's double increased his tally to 16 for the season. Gary Doherty, who like Hayes is on loan from Charlton, also scored for the home side as Pools' run without an away win in 2012 continued. "Everyone was terrible. It looked like the back four had never ever played together. It happens, I've been involved in games like that, but not when everyone plays so poorly," said Cooper. "We prepared better this week, I thought we looked really sharp in training. We've done the warm-up well, there was a nice buzz and then bang, we were totally useless from the first minute until the end. "The first one was suicidal defending. I don't know what they were doing. The second was criminal as well. Every goal we caused ourselves. I couldn't believe what I was watching. "I was really angry at half-time but after the game I've got to try and pick them up. I've never seen a game like that where everyone was as bad as they were and I'm sorry to the supporters who came down."
