Waddock wants more of same

Gary Waddock has called for more of the same from Wycombe after two goals in the space of seven first-half minutes sunk Tranmere 2-1.

The win lifted them out of the bottom four after Rovers took the lead inside the first five minutes with Adam McGurk crashing home. However, the hosts responded thanks largely to new signing Matty Whichelow. Signed on a month-long loan from Watford on deadline day, he headed an equaliser in the 23rd minute before playing a role in the second that saw Gareth Ainsworth net from close range. "There were incidents in that game where players were putting themselves on the line and that is what we need," said Waddock. "The fans could have gone the other way but they stuck with the lads because they could see that they were working hard. "Last week we got an absolute hammering but the players keep bouncing back and they responded well. It is important that we keep doing that at this stage of the season and that we keep plugging away and see where we end up."
