Gary Waddock says Matt McClure would have been in Wycombe's first team this season had the young striker not been out injured.

McClure is still recovering from a dislocated ankle he suffered on his goalscoring debut for Hayes & Yeading after joining the Blue Square Bet Premier club on loan in August.

The 20-year-old has yet to make his first league start for Wanderers but is highly rated at Adams Park.

"It is fair to say he would have been called back from his loan spell and would be playing a big part in the side," Waddock told the Buckinghamshire Examiner.

"We wanted him to go out on loan to get some games and, unfortunately, injury is an occupational hazard.

"But he has taken it well and worked extremely hard to recover. He is coming along well but is still a few weeks away. Then he will need game time to get up to speed, but it is good to have him back around the group again."
