Talks continue for Norwich star

Norwich defender Gary Doherty is still yet to agree a new contract with the club. The 28-year-old Irish international is out-of-contract next month and City have made him an offer. Doherty, though, is yet to accept the terms and says talks will continue with boss Glenn Roeder. "We're still in negotiations. In fact I haven't really spoken to Glenn for a couple of days. They have made me an offer and I have gone back with another, so it's just a case of trying to negotiate," said Doherty, who said he still saw his future at Carrow Road. "I think so, at the moment. I'm not actively looking to move so we'll just have to wait and see what happens. "You don't want it hanging around for six weeks but if that is how long the negotiations take, then that is how long. Obviously, with the situation we were in, the gaffer said he wanted to keep these decisions until we knew which division we would be playing in, so it's just a case of thrashing something out." City are also continuing talks with captain Mark Fortheringham over a new contract.

New deal

One player who has signed on is youngster Kris Renton - who has returned from a broken leg. Renton, 17, became the youngest player in the club's history last season but suffered a double break to his left leg last October and has not played since. "He's running around the training ground at the moment. I've seen him in the last couple of weeks. He's a big, strong lad," said Roeder. "After having a double fracture he's carrying a little bit of a limp at the moment, which is to be expected, but I'm looking forward to seeing him in pre-season and I hope we can make an early decision about offering him a pro contract."
