Wycombe to sign five

Wycombe Wanderers are due to welcome an influx of new recruits to their books, with five players expected to sign on Thursday.

Former Bristol City midfielder Joe Burnell is one of the top men coming to Adams Park, as he is due to pen a deal when he returns from holiday.

Gus Uhlenbeek is another player who has plenty of experience after spells with Sheffield United, Ipswich and Fulham.

The versatile defender will sign a one-year deal with Tony Adams' side as the former Arsenal stopper looks to build his own team.

Two players will arrive from Premiership sides on loan, and both are young defenders that Adams will take a closer look at in pre-season.

19-year-old Gary Silk will arrive from Portsmouth while Mike Williamson, also 19, will come in from Southampton hoping to secure some regular first team football.

Goalkeeper Steve Williams is due to sign a new contract after he impressed with his displays for the club last season.

Adams will take his new charges for pre-season training starting on Thursday, when a number of trialists will also be trying to impress.
