Debut striker boost for Pressley

Coventry manager Steven Pressley watched his two new loan strikers score on their debuts in a 2-2 draw with Rochdale.

Dominic Samuel and Sanmi Odelusi both joined the Ricoh Arena club in the week and both netted in the first half only for Rochdale to twice come from behind to take a deserved share of the spoils. But Pressley has not yet finished his window shopping. He said: "We desperately want to win games and although we did not manage it here, the ingredients are there and this week we can work hard with the two new players and get them totally in tune with what we want. "Hopefully we will also be able to make another addition or two to help the group as a whole. We would like another attacking threat and someone with pace and also potentially a midfielder player. "We were quicker on the counter attack today and we looked capable of scoring. Not only did we get two in the first half but we also created quite a few good chances and I was very pleased with the first half performance. "They made a change at half time and it took us 20 minutes before we really got to grips with that and in the remaining minutes you could see both sides' desperation to win the game and it was a bit like a basketball match the way it went from end to end." Sambrook, on loan from Reading, showed a cool head when he finished in 24th minute after the ball fell to him as keeper Josh Lillis dived at the feet of Jim O'Brien. But Callum Camps was not to be outdone and his first-time 20 yards strike nine minutes later was out of the top drawer. Coventry's second loanee Sanmi Odelusi put his side in front with his first league goal seven minutes from the break when he jinked clear on the edge of the area and scored with a right footed shot. But Rochdale, knocked out of the FA Cup by Stoke in midweek, had the better of the second half and deserved Calvin Andrew's 65th minute headed equaliser. Both sides could have claimed all the points Dale boss Keith Hill certainly felt his side had the better of the game. He said: "I can't complain about the quality of the two Coventry goals, they were excellent finishes, but they came from us giving away possession when we had it secured. "But that said there was a great deal I am pleased with, especially the fighting spirit. The second half performance was outstanding and on another day we could easily have won the game. "Callum's goal was one of the best team goals we have scored this season and it was something we had worked on during week in training. They have a big distance between their back four and their strikers and we wanted to exploit that and it led to our first goal. "Calvin scored a very good goal which is why we brought him. He is disappointed that he does not start every game but he is a very good professional."
