Hill hails Rochdale hero Hery

Keith Hill saluted 'super-sub' Bastien Hery after the Frenchman came off the bench to lead Rochdale to a 3-2 win at Swindon.

Michael Smith looked to have stolen a point for Swindon with an equaliser 13 minutes from time only for Hery to head the winner two minutes into stoppage time. Hill said: "We proved we're a good side. It was a terrific game, a great contest. I really enjoyed watching it. "We deserved to win it. It was great to get the three points. "I wasn't quite sure what to do with 15 minutes left. Shall we settle for a point or do we try and go out and win it? "We debated whether to start with Bastien Hery, but we decided to put him on the bench, but when he came on he produced that moment of magic and scored a great goal to win us the game. "Goalscorers get the plaudits, but we were terrific at the back. Conrad Logan had a great game in goal and he had some outstanding performances in front of him. "Swindon are a top side and to come here and win was terrific. It underlines how far we've come." Rochdale deserved their win, which ended a seven-match unbeaten run by Swindon, who took a 10th-minute lead through Liverpool manager Brendan Rodger's son Anton, celebrating his full debut with his maiden goal. The visitors were the dominant side in the first half, but their finishing failed to match some enterprising approach play. But Dale turned the game on its head with two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Swindon were twice guilty of shoddy marking - Irishman Matty Lund and, 10 minutes later, Peter Vincenti exposing their defensive frailties. Vincenti was stretchered off with a serious knee injury minutes after netting before Smith set up a grandstand finish with his late leveller, but it was Rochdale who scored the all-important winner with the unmarked Hery on target. Swindon manager Mark Cooper said: "We had some outstanding individual performances but defensively we weren't good enough. "We couldn't deal the way Rochdale played by smashing the ball up to their front three. "But our defending of set plays wasn't good enough - twice we were undone by players being left unmarked at corners - and it's something we've got to work on. "If we have to hit a hundred balls into the box for people to head at training we will and we'll get it right. "If we had defended better we would have won the game. We created an awful lot of chances and should have scored more."
