Captain Peter Cavanagh is among a group of six players who will not be offered new contracts by recently promoted Rochdale.
The 32-year-old, who joined the Dale from Fleetwood in 2012, has been released along with Robbie Thomson, Reece Gray, George Porter, Craig Lynch and Godwin Abadaki. The club are set to begin talks with out-of-contract duo Matty Done and Josh Lillis, while boss Keith Hill intends to take up the options in Rhys Bennett, Bastien Hery and Joe Rafferty's respective contracts to keep them at the club. The option in George Donnelly's contract is currently being considered by both the club and the player.
