Hill delighed with Dale outing

Rochdale's 4-1 win over Wycombe at Spotland finally delivered the performance boss Keith Hill had been looking for since his return.

The club's most successful ever boss guided Dale to promotion in 2010 but had struggled to revive fortunes in the first seven games of his second spell which yielded just one win. But, despite Wycombe taking a 16th minute lead through Stuart Lewis, Ian Henderson's equaliser soon after and an own goal from Josh Scowen minutes into the second half turned the game on its head before a late brace from George Donnelly provided gloss to the finish. The scoreline was a fair reflection of Dale's dominance and laid down a template for Hill's men to follow. "It was definitely a deserved three points," said Hill. "That is the type of performance I have been searching for and have been led to believe the players are capable of achieving. "Regardless of how the second half had turned out, I explained to the players at half time that the performance they had put in up to that point was what I expected from them. "And I hope that proves to be the watershed. I hope it's not a prelude to what has previously happened in the last 18 months where we fix things with a short-term solution, a result, then revert back to type. "We have to play on the front foot and that is the case regardless of tactics, formation or opposition. You have to take the game to the opposition. We were up for the challenge and we have to repeat that. "They know what I want and whether they can keep producing it is entirely up to them."
