Manager Keith Hill had no complaints about a performance he labelled as ugly after Rochdale's goalless draw at Barnet - but admitted his players did not feel the same way.
Bees goalkeeper Graham Stack produced a fine save to keep out Terry Gornell's goalbound second-half strike while Jason Kennedy could have snatched a late winner for the visitors.
But Barnet also had their share of chances - with on-loan debutant Dani Lopez, who scored six goals in a 12-game stint at Aldershot earlier this season, a constant threat.
"I've got to salute the players, they were very resolute and they certainly deserved to take something from the match," Hill said.
"The lads are a little bit down and they shouldn't be. We didn't really threaten enough, which is disappointing, but the encouraging thing is we're working so hard as a team and that should see us good in the end.
"They know they can do better than this and I know they can do better because I see them in training every day. I'm pleased with the clean sheet and we more than coped with everything the opposition has thrown at us.
"They feel a bit down but I won't let the result have a negative impact on what we're trying to achieve at this club."
