Coleman slams Rochdale critics

John Coleman hit back at the discontented Rochdale supporters following a second consecutive 3-2 home loss at the hands of Exeter.

As in last weekend's defeat to York, Dale left themselves with a mountain to climb courtesy of a 3-0 half-time deficit. Terry Gornell's brace set up a grandstand finish but the on-loan Shrewbury forward then undid his good work, earning a red card for a petulant kick out at ex-Dale defender Kevin Amankwaah. Having slipped down to 11th in npower League Two after losing their last three games, Coleman is aware of growing frustrations at Spotland. "In 15 years (as a manager) I've never gone in three-nil down at half-time and it's happened twice in a week - it's unbelievable," he said. "There might be a lot of Rochdale fans that don't like me at the moment because maybe I'm a Scouser or I'm not (former Dale boss) Keith Hill or because we got relegated and we're not winning games at home. "But even the most bitter fan who doesn't like me or even the most biased that doesn't like me, if they can for one second say we weren't the better team they are kidding themselves."
