Rochdale boss John Coleman believes Bobby Grant will only get better after he impressed in Dale's 2-1 win at AFC Wimbledon.
Dele Adebola's early header and Grant's tidy finish put them two goals up at the break against their struggling hosts, who saw Midson dismissed after 24 minutes.
Luke Moore pulled a goal back for the Dons late on but it was not enough to complete his side's fight back.
Coleman said: "Bobby could've scored four. When he's on his game Bobby's a handful for any defence, teams find it hard to cope with him. I know he'll get better.
"I expect him to feature a lot this season. We were desperate to sign him in the summer and thankfully we got him before the window ended."
Coleman added: "We've got to try and get back into the top half. It's disappointing because if we had won last week, it would have been a relatively good start. We should have won last week, I'm not saying we deserved it but we've got enough quality in our team. We passed the ball but we were hanging on for the last five minutes."
