Iron quartet set to return

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill's injury-hit squad could be boosted by the return of four players ready for action next week.

The Iron have been hard hit by injuries to key players since they were relegated from the Championship in May, but skipper Cliff Byrne, goalkeeper Josh Lillis, midfielder Damien Mozika and striker Matt Godden all featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Doncaster this week. Defender Byrne, in and out of the side in recent weeks due to a troublesome groin, and Lillis, sidelined since September with a knee injury, both played the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Doncaster. Mozika, restricted to nine appearances for the Iron following his arrival in September from Bury due to an ankle problem, and Godden (hip), yet to appear this season, played for an hour. Knill will be monitoring the quartet before deciding whether to include any of them in his squad for his side's next game against Walsall at Glanford Park a week on Saturday.
